Born but only partially raised in India, my paintings not only reflect some of my Indian heritage, but also that I have lived in many parts of the world during the last 50+ years. For the last fifteen years I have worked, lived, and exhibited in Belgium. I have a degree in applied art from the College of Art, University of Delhi and worked for a few years as a freelance illustrator in Delhi, but have spent the larger part of my life painting and experimenting on my own.

 

Expression. I like to put a lot of energy into my work and that manifests itself in large, bold swathes of colour and sweeping brushstrokes.

 

 

Inspiration can pretty much come from anywhere: a conversation, a flash of an image, a feeling, ordinary and extraordinary things. The less I force the process of inspiration, the more likely it is that I come up with something interesting. Putting an initial image on paper or canvas and then following the flow which is only partially conscious cannot really be described; it has to be experienced.
